Hester Polaris was a United Planets of Earth Navy commander. She was the commanding officer of the UEES Gilchrist and she is the namesake of the RSI Polaris.[1]
Military career[]
Hester Polaris joined the UPE Navy in 2523 and was first assigned as military liaison to monitor terraforming efforts, in 2530 during the Pallas Incident she took part in the hostage exchange. After being promoted to command the UEES Gilchrist, she later had to face the Tevarin in the First Tevarin War. During a routine patrol in a system that was declared clear a Tevarin strike force managed to board the UEES Gilchrist. Overwhelmed by numbers, Hester Polaris managed to defend the ship and the civilian population from attacking ships. The UEES Gilchrist destroyed three Tevarin capital ships in the battle until reinforcements arrived. Unfortunately she suffered severe injuries during the Tevarin boarding and died shortly after the battle had ended.
Roberts Space Industries has named the Polaris after her for her effectiveness in asymmetric warfare.
